Over the last 12 months our photo staff has been busy capturing the events, people, and important moments at Utah Valley University. As we reflect on the past year each photographer has chosen their favorite photos to share with you. These photos don't just represent the passage of time over the last 12 months, nor are they inclusive of every project or photo shoot I have been a part of, but they do include my favorite photos and moments of 2022 from my vantage point behind the lens. Jay Drowns

As photographers at UVU we are asked to photograph everything from portraits and studio work to sports events and graduation. The images are both a recording of the visual history and marketing materials. In everything we shoot we strive for excellence in visual storytelling combined with aesthetic appeal. Creating images that reveal the resilient spirit of the students, staff, and faculty of Utah Valley University is what makes mine the best job on campus.

Isaac Hale

This year marked my second academic year working on the photo team in the Marketing and Communications Department at Utah Valley University. Coming from the world of newspapers and photojournalism, I had a lot of new commercial skills to learn when I took this position back in March of 2021. Looking back now, I feel that I’ve grown a lot in that time. The culture of dedication to the craft of photography among the photo staff has offered a fertile environment for me to continuously refine my photo skills. I’ve learned many new things about studio lights, remote cameras for sporting events, and refining my post-production workflow, and I think my second year at UVU has put those new skills to good use throughout the year.

Emily Munoz

The best thing about photographing on campus is getting to know the people who make up UVU! This year was all about capturing the diverse opportunities UVU provides and the successes of our students. From business events to art performances and athletic games in our studio and all around campus, it was fun to capture moments that have an impact on UVU and its students.

Kennedy Evans

2022 has been amazing year filled with fun moments. Capturing these small moments and freezing time is a way I can share the greatest things UVU has to offer. Time can escape all of us but if we take a moment to see what is right in front of us, we can see those memories that we will cherish forever. Through these photos I can see that UVU is the place for me.
